2017.07.17 Week 58 - Lots of doors slammed

This week was really great. We found a lot more exito (success) and more people to teach. It was my turn to get bit by a dog, but I'm fine. I got bit in the arm. Both the Elders also got bit by dogs this week. My companion's half of a wisdom-tooth started hurting her so we went to the hospital. SHE GOT A SHOT IN THE BOOTYYYYY. I just laughed and laughed and laughed.

I gave a talk in our ward. I invited everyong to stop living up to the potential of hormigas (ants). The only way we can do this is by one, realizing that we are God's children, and two, doing stuff that children of God should and can do. So basically, the only way to not be an hormiga, is to study and apply the scriptures to your life. It is in the scriptures that we learn that we are God's children and also where we learn what we need to be doing to llegar a ser como El (become like Him).

This week was funny because we got a lot of doors slammed and a lot of excuses....

"NO NONONONONONONONONO"

"Sorry, I can't, I'm cooking noodles right now."

"UGGGGGGH, NOOOO."

"I don't have time, my kid is using the bathroooom."

"Sorry, there is food in the oven. It's really complicated for me."

"We are eating, so no."

"My wife is showering, so I don't have time."

"I'm busy." x300

"I'm hurried." x70098

Overall a great week. Love you all. Read your scriptures. Don't be ants.

2017.07.03 Week 56 - Good news. Weird news. Bad news.

Good week. Kinda weird. Kinda bad.

Good news, green card elder got emergency transferred out of our area.

Good news, today we are finally going to buy a mirror for our pensión (apartment). I have no idea what I have looked like for the past 3 weeks.

Good news, we had interviews with President this week and he gave me a lot of great counsel.

Weird news, we just found out the other elder here is going home tomorrow. His companion that has been here for about three days, is also leaving the area.

Weird news, in the blessing President gave me in my interview, he talked about how I need to start prepping now to get married. Ummmm, what? Give me a break for two seconds ehhh.

Bad news, my companion got bit by a dog....in the back of her knee.

Good news, I am basically a certified nurse and thanks to the great first aid kit from Aunt Stephanie the problem was dealt with relatively quickly, and with limited blood.

Bad news, according to my calculations we have contacted about 400 people in these last few weeks...of these 400, nobody cares about God.

Good news, we are just gonna keep working anyway with faith that God is preparing people to listen to our mensaje (message).

Have a great week. Read the Book of Mormon everyday. Pray every day. Go to church every week. These little things are going to make all of the difference in your lives.

2017.04.10 Week 44 - For me it was funny

1. We walk past a group of 10/11 year old boys. They start practicing their English.
"Hi My name is Joaquin? And you?"
"Hi I'm Hermana Little."
"WHAT? I didn't understand ANY of that."
Then as we leave we just hear screaming and here comes the real English. " I LOBE UUUUU" It's always funny to hear the somewhat English comments. "Hello Baby" is pretty common.

2. I had to carry a giant dog out of church on Sunday. That's not actually unusual, but still funny.

3. We got one of our investigators to attend a baptism with us this week so we were super pumped. We show up to walk with her. She's in black heels and gold hambre leggings. And the best part, a t-shirt with Christ´s face printed on it. He's wearing a crown of thorns. It's all in black and white. But then his eyes are bright blue. It was super funny, I guess it's her usual church shirt.

4. All the members of the other ward here in Roca hate me because I laughed during the baptism. I'm just really sorry that the Elder slipped on the stairs into the font and just fell in. For me it was funny. That 3 seconds of laughing is apparently just completely inappropriate. Don't worry I already repented.

5. I spent some time this week sick. I puked a lot. It was a little weird because I noticed that I haven´t really puked in years. But don't worry parents, I remembered that FHE "How to Puke if You Are In Bed" lesson, and we didn't have any disasters.

BESOS (kisses) to you all. Have a great Easters.

2016.9.5 Week 14 - I ate mondongo this week

I have no time to write but I ate mondongo this week. It was disgusting. I looked up what it was after...innards.  YAY. Innards are not better than air. I hope you are all doing well. I can´t believe I have finished three months of my mission. IT PASSES SO FAST AND SO SLOW.

I am grateful every day to live in Bariloche, it is super pretty and a huge blessing. How many people get this opportunity to learn all about a new culture and live in Argentina, it´s pretty awesome!

We don´t have a ton of investigators right now so we got a list of all of the people in our ward so we can visit all of the menos activos (less actives). We are hoping to bring them back to the church and baptize their families!

This week we found 3 brothers that are about 9, 11, 15. We played soccer and basketball with them and are hoping that since we are friends now we can teach them. It was super fun to play "basketball." We played with a soccer ball and the hoop was a hula hoop stapled to a board, but I still wrecked, I don´t mean to be prideful but I think they were impressed, especially since I was playing in a skirt. I love basketball.

Thank you for all the emails and remember that GOD LOVES YOU! My goal right now is to learn more about the Savior. I have been reading Jesus the Christ and it is super super good. It's fun to learn more about Christ and his way of teaching. I appreciate learning that he wasn´t always Mr. Nice-Guy, if he needed to bajar la caña (drop the cane -Argentine phrase implying discipline), he could. I am trying to be loving but direct with investigators and follow his example.

2016.08.08 Week 10 - I think God protects us with dogs sometimes

I pretty much can´t remember anything that happened this week. So here are some random facts about my life.

1. There are dogs EVERYWHERE. Millions of dogs living in the street. I think God protects us with dogs sometimes. Randomly one dog will just walk with us all the way to an appointment. Or accompany us to church. I hope that they would actually protect us if there was a problem. I name every dog Alejandro and then me and my companion sing Lady Gaga. Overall they are annoying and gross, sometimes they block the road and we can´t get to appointments.

2. Graffiti on everything. It´s funny that people think they need to write their name on every single thing.

3. The food is soooooo good. Lots of pasta and meat. Also potatoes. And bread. And cake. And pudding. And pie. And fish. Basically just every good thing.

4. There was some strange drunk man following us this week. We ran away and all is well.

5. It´s really cold. Tons of rain. Tons of snow. Tons of mud. Rainboots are a miracle.

6. All of the members in my ward are really awesome. It´s like having 30 parents.

7. I wear tights every day. I hate them but it´s freezing. They are the same ones I brought. I´m not really sure why they said to buy tights here, I don´t even know where you would buy tights here.

8. The men here only harass me when they are drunk. There are quite a few borrachos (drunks) here. Mostly I walk past and then hear after "Que bonita" (So beautiful). It's pretty funny.

9. We have a clothes washer. It´s pretty junky but I am really grateful for it. My clothes always come out of it covered in gross hairballs. (We thought she would be "washing" her clothes in a bucket.)
